El registro fosil de secuencias marinas del Cretacico Inferior de la Cuenca de Coloso, Norte de Chile

Tesis desarrollada en la modalidad de doble graduaci?n con la Universidad de Granada, Espa?a.

El prop?sito de esta investigaci?n es reconocer el registro f?sil de la Cuenca de Coloso, ubicada al sur de Antofagasta, mediante la determinaci?n taxon?mica de los espec?menes presentes en la Formaci?n El Way, depositada durante el Cret?cico Inferior. Adicionalmente, el estudio tiene como objetivo conocer la distribuci?n estratigr?fica los distintos taxones permitiendo establecer l?mites temporales de la formaci?n y entregando informaci?n sobre las asociaciones f?siles que all? habitaron. Finalmente, a trav?s de la paleontolog?a y de la bioestratigraf?a del lugar, se intentar?n dilucidar las relaciones paleobioestratigr?ficas de la cuenca con otras cuencas del margen oeste de Gondwana y posibles corredores migratorios.

The purpose of this research is to recognize the fossil record of the Coloso Basin, located to the south of Antofagasta, through the taxonomic determination of the specimens present in the El Way Formation (Ammonoidea, Scleractinia, Gastropoda, Echinoidea and Brachiopoda), deposited during the Lower Cretaceous. In addition, the study aims to know the stratigraphic distribution of the different taxa allowing the establishment of temporal limits of the formation and providing information about the fossil associations that lived there. Finally, through the palaeontology and the biostratigraphy of the Coloso Basin, we will try to elucidate the paleobioestratigraphic relations of the basin with other basins of the western margin of Gondwana and possible migratory corridors.
